How I can help you:
Not only have I been a Certified Fitness Trainer since 2002, but I got my start in fitness as a Water Aerobics Instructor and also taught arthritis classes in the pool since 2000. I fell in love with the older adult population at the YMCA and quickly got a specialized certification to work with the older adults.
And today I am considered an older adult myself. I do continuing education for my certifications and for my older adult certifications I have studied everything from hormone balance and fitness to functional fitness for the older adult population.
In 2006 I wanted to work with athletes as my son was an avid baseball player. I became certified to work with athletes. How does this apply to you? I have material on training everyone from a basketball player to those who play golf. Yes - all types of conditioning for every type of sport.
In about 2009 ISSA (my certification company) changed the title from Certified in Sports Conditioning to Certified in Strength and Conditioning. I assume the reason why is people were using this certification to "train" professional athletes and this certification does not qualify a person to work on that caliber.
As a Certified Trainer in Strength and Conditioning I am always studying new ways to lift weights to improve your fitness goals. The way strength training works to help improve or even disprove your fitness and why we should all lift weights. Period!
In 2013 I was hired as the Fitness and Wellness Director at OCuSOFT in Rosenberg, Texas. I work with all ages and fitness levels incorporating fitness and wellness in the company and culture on campus. The company has a gym for their team members and I run that!
In 2002 I also became a Certified Life Coach. I am very passionate about mindset and personal development. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston. I am an avid reader of personal development and the study of human behavior. Rest assured if you are struggling with something I can probably recommend a book or podcast to listen to on this.
Having said that, nothing can replace therapy with a qualified therapist. We all have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), especially after the pandemic, and a therapist can definitely help with that.
Personally, I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD in 2006 and my therapist saved my life.
I tell you this so you can decide where I can help you on your fitness and wellness journey.
One thing I am not qualified to give advice on is nutrition. However I still do. As you can imagine fitness and nutrition go hand in hand so I do know the basics. But I do need to add that disclaimer.😉
